The United States is the largest donor of humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan, and to Afghan refugees in the region. Our humanitarian response includes the delivery of food, nutrition assistance, shelter, safe drinking water, hygiene supplies, and other critical health services such as trauma care, child protection, psychosocial support services, and prevention and response to gender-based violence. USAID continues to work closely with partners to respond to the humanitarian needs generated by the country’s ongoing economic crisis, decades of conflict, continued drought, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
