Achieving Effective Uptake

Achieving Effective Uptake

1)  LEVERAGE THE RIGHT MODEL

Use a Lab-Wide Priority model for internal, innovative uptake efforts, and a model similar to the DFS team for longer-term initiatives with both internal and external uptake objectives.

2) EQUIP A DEDICATED TEAM

Build teams that have relevant technical expertise, knowledge of USAID operations and dynamics, as well as sufficient resources to scale.

3) USE MISSION ENGAGEMENT BEST PRACTICE

Secure USAID staff technical expertise, leverage relationships, utilize assessments to identify opportunities, and align with Mission priorities.

4) BUILD A DIVERSE NETWORK

Be intentional about building and maintaining relationships with operational and programmatic Mission staff, implementing partners, and other actors.

5) EXIT STRATEGICALLY

Plan for exit of short-term teams or Mission engagements. Set targets and monitor outcomes to know when the work will be sustained if USAID/HQ support is no longer available.
