Supporting government and civil society actors to engage in an inclusive and peaceful political transition through targeted assistance in select rural and urban areas.
Program Description
The USAID Office of Transition Initiatives (USAID/OTI) began its program in Yemen in March 2010 as part of a wider U.S. Government effort to help the Republic of Yemen Government address destabilizing factors in its most insecure governorates. Since the signing of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) initiative in November 2011 to resolve the country’s political crisis, OTI’s goal in Yemen has been to support an inclusive and participatory transition process. To date, it has implemented more than 700 activities across the country. As the transition continues to unfold, OTI will regularly reassess its objectives and activities to ensure they continue to represent the most effective application of resources to support this historic opportunity.
