Robert Cunnane has been USAID’s mission director for Tanzania since 2008. Cunnane has worked for USAID for 20 years with most of his service overseas in East Africa. Prior to his arrival in Tanzania, Cunnane served as the USAID deputy director in Indonesia from 2005 to 2008. He has also served as a health officer in Bangladesh, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Before joining USAID, Cunnane was a research associate at Johns Hopkins University from 1989 to 1991, and a country representative for Project Concern in Indonesia from 1985 to 1989. Cunnane received his B.S. in Public Health from the University of Massachusetts and a Masters in Public Health (International Health) from the University of California, Los Angeles.
