Maureen A. Shauket arrived in Kosovo as USAID mission director in December 2011, previously serving four years as the Agency’s chief acquisition officer and senior procurement executive, the first woman to be so designated. She has also served as the deputy director for operations in the Office of Acquisition and Assistance.
Shauket began her USAID career nearly two decades ago in the Pakistan Office of Project Development and Monitoring. She has also served as a contracting officer in the Regional Center for Southern Africa in Botswana, as a supervisory contracting officer in Bangladesh, and as director of the Regional Contracting Office in Hungary.
Shauket is a member of the Senior Foreign Service with a rank of minister counselor. Her awards include the USAID Award for Ethics, the Mary A. Reynold’s Award for Innovation in Acquisition and Assistance, and four Meritorious Honor Awards. She is an enthusiastic supporter of gender equality; and lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender issues, and is an active member of USAID's advocacy groups.
