USAID's climate change programs will help improve Bangladesh’s ability to respond to climate change and mitigate its effects on the country’s most vulnerable populations.
Through past environment programs, we were able to:
- Make critical investments in biodiversity conservation and rural electrification, including strengthening the capacity of environment and energy sector government institutions;
- Help communities dependent on the forests and wetlands for their livelihoods play a formal role in decision making through Collaborative Management Organizations;
- Increase sustainable livelihood activities in and around protected areas utilizing conservation-financing mechanisms and the protection of critically endangered ecosystems; and
- Address the legal and policy framework related to natural resource management.
In the future, we will continue to combine immediate action and longer-term policy adjustments in our programming.
