Many reports are published each year on issues related to life in the West Bank and Gaza. Each month USAID will select, and feature, a number of these. We hope they will be useful and timely sources of information. Some of the reports are available in PDF format, for which you will need a copy of the free Acrobat Reader software. Winter 2004 The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, in cooperation with the World Food Programme and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, studied the food and nutrition situation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip for six months in 2003 to assist the Palestinian Authority and donors in designing food security and nutrition programs. September 2003 An eight-month study of higher education institutions in the West Bank and Gaza and what is needed to keep them viable and strong. August 2003 As a continuation to the Nutrition Assessment of 2002, a new report was published in August 2003. July 2003 This report studies how the Israeli-Palestinian conflict affects Palestinian children's mental health. July 2003 Prepared as a follow-up to a report published in March 2002, the assessment helps donors and the Palestinian Authority (PA) cope with the deep economic crisis in the West Bank and Gaza and seeks to preserve a focus on the types of medium- term economic and institutional policies that will return to prominence once the current conflict ceases to dominate the daily lives of Palestinians and Israelis. April 2003 The roadmap specifies the steps for the two parties to take to reach a settlement, and a timeline for doing so, under the auspices of the Quartet - the United States, the European Union, the United Nations, and Russia. March 2003 A monthly newsletter intended to help Palestinian graduate students, this issue has "public health" as its theme. October 2002 The thirteenth edition of the Health Inforum bi-weekly newsletter covers current health status issues in the West Bank. Included are GIS coverage maps of West Bank health care facilities.
