 Under the Democracy and Governance Portfolio, USAID focus on supporting the Palestinian Authority (PA) to build the foundations of a Palestinian State, including strong institutions, democratic government, and providing quality services to the Palestinian citizens.
The current DG portfolio includes five major initiatives that aims to support the justice and enforcement of the rule of law (NETHAM ), addressing the capacity building needs across PA ministries (PA Capacity Enhancement, PACE), providing commodities and technical assistance to municipalities to better enable them to carry out their mandates (Local Democratic Reform Project, LDR), training media players to better inform the public and build a real constituency for reform and the peace process (The independent Media Development Aswatona), and supporting the structural reforms and procedural improvements in the administration of the electoral processes , by providing support to the Central Elections Commission through
(IFES).
