Palestinian youth Portal

A visit of al Awa’el school students to the Science and Math Museums at Al Quds Univrsity, an ongoing activity under the Model Schools Network Program.
 

THE GOALS

  • A robust and fully-functional portal provided in English and Arabic.

  • Training for YDRC ICT staff, UPP partners and other stakeholders including YDRC youth members on the use the proposed ydrc.glp.net to upload and share materials and connect with each other.

  • A community of practice to help coordinate the information and knowledge sharing of the YDRC-related ongoing contributions of USAID, Cisco, Intel, along with other possible UPP supporters.

  • Create a website where users would not need to log in to view anything on the portal. However, they would need to log in to contribute documents, post comments, and edit text.

  • The PYP will support Youth Development Resource Centers (YDRCs)

SUMMARY:

The Palestine Youth Portal program, is a $300,000 one year program, aims at providing a comprehensive, integrated on line portal to serve as the “one-stop shop” for Youth Development Resource Centers (YDRCs) and affiliated youth clubs, program officials, partners and stakeholders at large. The program is being implemented by the Global Learning Portal (GLP) through a cooperative agreement with the Academy of Education Development (AED) in collaboration with MoYs, Ruwwad youth program, Palestinian IT Association, InterTech IT company and the YDRCs which are being supported through the U.S Palestinian Partnership (UPP).

ILLUSTRATIVE KEY FEATURES OF THE PORTAL:
    • Access to policies, guidelines and operational manuals provided by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

    • An articulated Governance Structure: two ways information flows from the MoYS o the YDRC and from YDRCs to the affiliated youth clubs and among YDRCs themselves.

    • Partnership and Collaboration: The site should provide a framework where users with specific interests can go directly to the UPP partner sites

    • Decentralized Content Uploading: to upload material (training manuals, brochures, photos, etc…) through NGOs and other UPP partners.

    • Application and form Search: Online access to application for the Youth corps, and other searches for scholarship and employment opportunities.

    • RSS (Real Simple Syndication) for Key Sports: for sports information in real time for key sports i.e. football, basketballs.

    • General Site Calendar:

    • Moderated Discussion and Blogs

    • Digital libraries to include training manuals, documents cultural materials etc.

    • Dynamic Page Editing

    • Online English as a Second Language training
