USAID/Southern Africa offers a full range of high quality and timely regional services to eight USAID Missions (Angola, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe) and three countries without a USAID Mission (called "non-presence" countries) (Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland). USAID/Southern Africa provides services to client missions in the areas of acquisition and assistance, financial management, legal administration, environmental compliance, program support and technical and administrative support to non-presence countries.
Regional Legal Office
Provides legal support to the following countries: South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Angola, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Swaziland, Madagascar, Lesotho and Botswana.
Regional Acquisition and Assistance Office
Provides acquisition and assistance services to the following countries: South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Angola, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Swaziland, Madagascar, Lesotho and Botswana.
Regional Executive Office
Issues Mission Notices, Country Clearances for VIPs, IT support and human resource management to the following countries: South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Angola, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Swaziland, Madagascar, Lesotho and Botswana.
Regional Financial Management Office
Provides services such as voucher examining, accounting, cashier services, timesheet processing, audit management to the following countries: South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Angola, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Swaziland, Madagascar,Lesotho and Botswana.
Regional Program and Project Development Office
Coordinates with offices within the Mission to facilitate in developing programs, reporting accomplishments, troubleshooting, providing guidance on policies and procedures and negotiating amongst offices. RPPDO also manages monitoring and evaluation, budget planning and management, training, program coordination with various countries such as South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Angola, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Swaziland, Madagascar, Lesotho and Botswana, as well as with other donors.
Regional Environmental Support
The Regional Environmental Advisor provides services in terms of regulation 22 CFR Part 216 (Reg. 216) Environmental Compliance and Capacity:
Manage the response to the Mission services/T.A. requests along the lines of Reg. 216 compliance requirements, with emphasis upon increasing application of environmental review and implementation farther “upstream” in the program development cycle and process, with emphasis upon “beyond compliance” and reforming and refining support systems. The REA serves as a source of information on environmental regulations, regional cooperation, and emerging issues in the Southern African region.
The REA helps develop and manage environmental and natural resource management activities funded by the USAID/Southern Africa portfolio, such as environmental assessment and regulations, capacity building, ENV/NRM technology transfer, networks, policy studies and dialogue, and agriculture/natural resources management and constraint identification.
