August 11, 2006:  The Tertiary Education Linkages Project (TELP), a bilateral South African and American education project, sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and managed by United Negro College Fund's Special Programs, will officially come to a close at this Durban function.

South African search and rescue team members participate in a training exercise U.S. Search and Rescue Experts Train South African Counterparts
June 1, 2006:  U.S. search and rescue teams from Fairfax County (Virginia) and Los Angeles County were recently in South Africa to conduct urban search and rescue training for their South African counterparts. Both teams have extensive experience urban disaster situations around the globe. The training program, held from May 23-30, was hosted by Rescue South Africa and funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

May 12, 2006:  Thousands of South African school children in disadvantaged areas can now access exciting new educational materials using satellite equipment that beams maths, science and technology education directly into their schools.

Anglo Platinum Launches its BEE Supplier Development Programme
March 30. 2006:  Anglo Platinum will be launching its BEE Supplier Development Programme at two of its mines in Limpopo and the North West Province on the 23rd and 30th March respectively.  In Limpopo, the launch will take place at Meropa Casino Conference Centre, Polokoane and at the Anglo Platinum Recreation Club, Rustenburg, in the North West.

South African NGO Mothers to Mothers-To-Be Visit USAID While on a U.S. Tour
March 16, 2006:  The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) hosted a meeting on March 14th with South African nongovernmental organization (NGO) Mothers to Mothers-To-Be (M2M2B). The session was chaired by Melinda Wilson, HIV Care and Treatment Technical Advisor for USAID South Africa. USAID opened with a brief presentation on the global status of prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS, follow-up care and a panel presentation by M2M2B on their regional and South Africa specific work. The women from M2M2B are site coordinators who have gone through the M2M2B program. They shared their personal and professional experiences and challenges with the audience.
