Ending preventable maternal and child deaths - Part 3
USAID Mission Director Susan Riley visited Antsiranana in northern Madagascar from February 24-27 as part of a tour of health projects, and share with partners and beneficiaries USAID's major priorities, including the renewed promise to end preventable maternal and child deaths.
Fifty two percent of the people in DIANA region have access to safe drinking water, and 10 percent use a latrine. The regional officer for water implements the three-P policy (public private partnership) to help each individual household have access to these basic health infrastructures. MAHEFA project provided Antsiranana with water and sanitation infrastructures, including 30 water points and 47 latrines. Everything was done based on the local population’s need. A USAID Director responsible for water in Africa plans to visit Madagascar soon.
