The following announcement is provided as a service to the general public and the Government of the Republic of Mali's SOTELMA (the state telephone operator). The opportunity described in the announcement does not involve USAID financing.
The U.S. Agency for International Development would like to announce that SOTELMA, the Malian telephone company will begin accepting applications to become an Internet Service Provider in Mali as of January 28, 1997. SOTELMA has stated that it will review each application as expeditiously as possible. SOTELMA expects to keep the application "window" permanently open; thus there is no closing date for applications, and SOTELMA has not established a limit on the number of applications that it will accept and/or approve. Sotelma will be able to provide a 'link' to its national gateway.
No USAID financial or material assistance is being made available to firms which qualify to function as an ISP in Mali; nor is USAID a party to any aspect of the relationship between Mali's SOTELMA and qualified ISP firms. Interested firms should contact Mr. Ousmane Seck, Internet Working Group Coordinator, at the address below for additional information.
