Status of the Leland Initiative in Benin

	Policy Review (Objective 1): Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signed.
	Technical Review (Objective 2): The link to the Benin Leland Internet Gateway seems to be inoperable and we are investigating the matter to determine whether or not the material is still available online. [04/24/00] The PT&T is now accepting new ISPs. In February, 1999, Leland and four private sector ISPs sponsored an Internet training workshop conducted by MTDS.
	Internet Applications Review (Objective 3): Survey Completed. The Applications and Internet Training Strategy team trained 115 people in August, 1998 during their GLOBE, "train-the-trainer," and USAID Mission partner training workshop.
