USAID Programs in Uganda: A Photo Essay
USAID programs in Uganda support development in several sectors, including governance, peace building, education, HIV/AIDS, and economic growth.
The photos presented here offer insights into life in Uganda and show how USAID programs address the problems and needs of real people. They cover four Ugandan districts: Luwero, Nakasongola, Kampala, and Kitgum and illustrate aspects of daily life of the Acholi people in northern Uganda and the inadequate living conditions of Ugandans in an Internally Displaced People's Camp (IDP) in Kitgum District.
There are also photos from a hospital and therapeutic feeding center in Kitgum town center and pictures of ex-combatants from a reception and reintegration center for children returning from military captivity. The photographers are USAID staff members Frank Young and Ruth Buckley.
