Vietnam: Public-Private Partnerships Protect the Environment, Help Farmers, and Promote Information Technologies

The Dong Nai watershed and biodiversity corridor in Vietnam will be protected by an innovative public-private initiative and cost recovery mechanism for water and sanitation service providers.  Partnerships with the private sector (MasterFoods and the World Cocoa Foundation) augment USAID’s efforts to improve the development of cocoa production and trade in the Mekong Delta and the central highlands. USAID addresses trans-boundary conflict in the Mekong River Basin through support to the Mekong River Commission, which manages natural resources.  The Last Mile Initiative promotes efforts of private partners and Vietnam’s state-owned enterprises to launch wireless connectivity and information communications technology applications to schools and community centers in 64 provinces.
