USAID programs are providing village health worker training to indigenous students from Tibet to address community health needs and equip them to find jobs in the new economy.

China: Assistance to Tibetan Communities

USAID’s programs strengthen Tibetan communities’ capacity for meeting their socio-economic needs, while conserving the environment and preserving their cultural heritage.  USAID-supported NGOs provide Tibetan communities with access to financial, technical, marketing, environmental, and educational resources necessary to sustain traditional livelihoods, their unique culture and environment, and to take advantage of economic opportunities as China develops its western regions.  USAID implements these activities through cooperative agreements with U.S.-based NGOs.
