USAID Assistance Fighting Wildfires in South Eastern Europe
USAID Provides Additional Wildfire Assistance to Greece - 08/30/07
The United States Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is announcing the contribution of $1.2 million in equipment and technical assistance to the Government of Greece (GOG) to help combat wildfires in the country. This announcement follows the provision of an initial $100,000 on August 28, which USAID directed to the Hellenic Red Cross for emergency fire fighting equipment and emergency relief commodities. This support is in response to the declaration on August 25 by the GOG that a national state of emergency existed in the country.
USAID Provides Assistance to Help Battle Fires in Greece - 08/27/07
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Acting Administrator Henrietta H. Fore today authorized $100,000 to be provided to the Hellenic Red Cross to help combat wildfires in Greece. U.S. assistance will help purchase emergency fire fighting equipment and emergency relief commodities to assist those who have been affected by the devastating fires.
USAID Provides an Additional $175,000 to Help Fight Wildfires in Albania - 08/20/07
The U.S. Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is providing an additional $175,000 to assist the Government of Albania in combating recent wildfires. In total, the U.S. Government has provided $225,000 to Albania since the beginning of August for this disaster
USAID Provides Wildfire Assistance to Croatia - 08/10/07
The U.S. Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is providing $50,000 for the purchase of firefighting equipment and protective gear to assist the Government of Croatia in combating ongoing wildfires. Earlier this week, the U.S. Embassy requested USAID's assistance to support fire responders, particularly in Croatia's Konavle and Zupa Dubrovacka municipalities, in the province of Dalmatia.

The U.S. Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is providing $50,000 for the purchase of fire fighting equipment to assist the Government of Bulgaria in combating recent wildfires.
USAID Provides Assistance to Help Fight Wildfires in Albania and Macedonia - 07/30/07
The U.S. Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is providing $100,000 to assist the Governments of Albania and Macedonia in combating recent wildfires.
The U.S. Agency for International Development has provided economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide for more than 40 years.
