Washington, D.C. - On behalf of the U.S. Agency for International Development, I am pleased to send warm greetings to the Muslim community and all those celebrating Eid al-Adha. This holiday honors the faith and obedience of Abraham, the founding patriarch of the three great Abrahamic religions of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. It is an opportunity to give thanks for God's many blessings.

May we all learn from Abraham's example and share our compassion and generosity with those in need this holiday season and through out the year, and let us continue to work toward a future of peace and opportunity for people around the world.

The American people, through the U.S. Agency for International Development, have provided economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide for nearly 50 years.
