Washington, D.C. - On behalf of the U.S. Agency for International Development, I am pleased to send warm greetings to the Jewish community and all those celebrating Hanukkah. This holiday honors the courage and faith of the Jewish people and brings the message of hope and freedom to the world. As you light the Hanukkah candles, let us all remember those who continue to live in tyranny and oppression, and let our heart be filled with the peace and goodwill of the season.

The American people, through the U.S. Agency for International Development, have provided economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide for nearly 50 years.
