Management Challenges
The Reports Consolidation Act of 2000 requires that
USAID’s Performance and Accountability Report include
a statement by the Inspector General that summarizes the most
serious management and performance challenges facing the Agency
and briefly assesses the progress in addressing those challenges.
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) considers the most serious
management and performance challenges to USAID to be in the
following areas:
- Financial Management
- Managing for Results
- Acquisition and Assistance
- Human Capital Management
- Information Technology Management
The first four challenges appeared on OIG’s list last
year. Information Technology Management challenges were added
this year. A summary of the issue, actions taken this year,
and those remaining are presented for each area of concern.
USAID aggressively pursues corrective actions for all significant
challenges, whether identified by the OIG, GAO, or other sources.
