The data set that we rely on for the measure comes from the Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) Interagency Assessment of Cocaine Movement (IACM). Over the past several years, DIA has been increasingly concerned about the validity of its estimate for cocaine entering the U.S. arrival zone, and since 2005 DIA has decided not to publish an official estimate but to give an increasingly widening range that undermines the indicator’s usefulness as a performance measure (for 2005 the range is between 397 MT and 964 MT). |
