Graduation ceremony of USAID-funded training organized by Green Star Social Marketing program

Sixty-one health providers who completed a USAID-funded training course organized by the Green Star Social Marketing program were honored by senior Government of Pakistan officials and Mission Director Lisa Chiles at a graduation ceremony held in Islamabad. The graduates are in private practice and included physicians, nurses as well as ancillary health workers. They completed three to five-day courses offering practical training in various aspects of family planning and reproductive health, including basic orientation to contraceptive methods, IUD-insertion and counseling, infection control, etc.

Most of the graduates are women, whose services are in great demand in Pakistan. Practical refresher training is rare for private providers, and representatives of the graduates noted with appreciation the quality and relevance of the Green Star courses to their clinical practices. Through USAID support, Green Star providers furnish health services to over three million persons annually. Mission Director Chiles cited the importance of Green Star in helping meet the needs of Pakistanis for quality health care, and commended the graduates for their initiative in pursuing continuing education – showing their commitment to providing quality care to patients and staying on top of the latest developments in medicine.
