“A.A.J.” believes he was 10 years old when he was captured by the RUF. At the time that this photo was taken, he hadn't seen his parents since and did not know if they were still alive. A.A.J. was made to work as an “aide-de-camp,” doing domestic work. His release was negotiated by a local NGO.
