US Food Aid
The Public Law (P.L.) 480
food aid program is comprised of three titles. Each title has different objectives and provides
agricultural assistance to countries at different levels of economic development. Title I of
the P.L. 480 program is administered by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), and Titles II
and III are administered by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
USAID's Regional Food for Peace Office for West Africa (USAID/RFFP)/Senegal is responsible
for the oversight and management of USG Title II programs in West Africa. In fiscal year (FY)
2002, USAID/RFFP/Mali oversaw development and emergency programs in 14 countries with a total
budget of $ 88.78 million.

Note: In FY 2002, RFFP/Senegal provided Title II program oversight in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Chad, Gambia (The), Ghana, Guinea,
Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone.
USDA's Regional Foreign Service Agriculture Office in West Africa (USDA/FAS)/Abidjan is responsible for the oversight and management of
Title I and Title II Food for Progress and 416(b) programs in West Africa.
