John Ogonowski and Doug Bereuter Farmer-to-Farmer Program (FTF)

USAID’s Farmer-to-Farmer Program connects U.S. farmers who volunteer to undertake brief volunteer assignments in developing countries to build capacity and boost technical skills of farmers, farm groups and agribusinesses in the developing world. Program volunteers help facilitate sustainable improvements in food processing, production and marketing. Volunteers typically are not international development professionals; instead, they are individuals who have spent their careers in farming or a related sector and are interested in sharing their technical expertise. The program is named after one of the pilots killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks who was also a farmer, and for former Congressman Bereuter, who initially sponsored the program.
