Food for Work
Food for Work utilizes Title II commodities to improve low-income communities, giving food to workers engaged in agriculture, economic, community and health development projects in exchange for their labor. These public works projects build community infrastructure—including roads and markets—and help prevent or reduce disaster by creating assets such as flood embankments, cyclone shelters, terraces, and gully plugs, and utilizing other soil and water conservation techniques. Food for Work activities can help improve food security by addressing temporary household food insecurity while supporting key construction and rehabilitation activities that lead to longer-term, more sustainable food security.
