Sri Lanka - Floods

Brief Description:
Heavy monsoon rains that began on December 11 have caused severe flooding and landslides across central, north-central, and eastern Sri Lanka. According to the Government of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS), the flooding and landslides have affected more than 185,000 families, damaged 16,200 houses, and destroyed more than 52,000 acres of farmland. In addition, international media sources reported that a landslide killed 4 people in Welimada District, Central Province, on December 15.
