    March 8, 2011, marks the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, which provides a global platform to focus attention on the continued need to improve women’s status and opportunities all over the world. Learn more about USAID’s longstanding commitment to advancing the health and welfare of women and girls.

  • World AIDS Day – 12/01/10
    On World AIDS Day, we commit to build upon our successes and continue to make smart investments that will ultimately save and improve the lives of millions. USAID along with PEPFAR joins in the shared responsibility in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We pay tribute to those affected and infected with HIV/AIDS worldwide.

  • The 16 Days Campaign to End Violence against Women – 11/25/10-12/10/10
    From November 25 to December 10, USAID will amplify efforts to bring much-needed attention to the reality of millions of women around the world who are victims of violence and abuse. The 16 Days Campaign provides us with an opportunity to share with you what USAID is doing on behalf of the American people to promote equal rights and end violence against women around the world.

  • South Africa Hosts World Cup – June 2010
    The kickoff of the World Cup in South Africa was an opportunity for the country to showcase its many talents and treasures, as well as reflect on the serious hardships that still affect the country – especially the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

    On World AIDS Day, we renew our commitment to work together in the fight against HIV/AIDS. As a major partner in the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), USAID is fully committed to continue providing prevention, care, and treatment services to those in need.

  • 2009 HIV/AIDS Implementers' Meeting – June 10-14, 2009
    The 2009 HIV/AIDS Implementers’ Meeting in Windhoek, Namibia will gather together program implementers to share best practices and lessons learned in the fight against global AIDS with a specific focus on implementation.
