Support Services
Through a task order with Chemonics International/ The Cadmus Group, Inc., ANE/TS seeks to increase your access to information on environmental guidelines and best practices; training; and technical assistance to conduct environmental reviews that comply with USAID's environmental regulations (22 CFR 216), including preparation of Initial Environmental Examinations, requests for Categorical Exclusions, and other USAID environmental documentation. The Task Order is specifically intended to provide support responding to the needs of individual missions.
Types of assistance available
Some of the principal services available under this contract include:

Preplanning/provision of principal trainers for training of mission staff and partners in Environmental Assessment(EA)/Environmentally Sound Design (ESD) and Reg 216. Courses can be tailored to specific Mission and partner capacity building requirements ranging from internal Mission staff briefings, 5 day courses for Mission partners, or 11 day Training of Trainers courses for local consultants, university faculty, government professionals, NGOs, PVOs and other USAID partners. Mission co-funding is welcomed, but course pre-planning and needs assessments will typically be covered by core funding from ANE/TS.
- Assisting in development of program-specific environmental review procedures under Reg 216, particularly for sub-grant and "umbrella" programs. Assistance in preparing environmental management plans and mitigation and monitoring measures. Follow-up support to Missions in implementing their environmental management plans. Assistance with strategic, sectoral or programmatic environmental assessments. Support with Initial Environmental Examination Preparation and preparation of Environmental Assessment Scoping Statements. Support related to meeting ADS 201 environmental requirements in preparing Country Strategic Plans
- Provision of environmental best-practice guidance for new or existing activities, in the form of written guidance and/or training by specific sectors, e.g., water and sanitation, construction of health clinics, schools, feeder roads, environmentally sound ecotourism, micro and small enterprise development, etc. Adaptation of best-practice guidance into project-specific environmental review procedures, particularly in "umbrella" or subgrant projects.
- Limited support to preparation of environmental analyses, particularly regarding emerging issues and new program areas.
- Support to initiatives to build host country EIA/ESD capacity.
