BEPS Child Labor Team in West Africa

BEPS is traveling to USAID missions in Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Guinea, and Nigeria to discuss the Sustainable Tree Crop Program and child labor. The USAID Africa Bureau is bringing together its basic education and agriculture divisions to work on these issues. Countries including Burkina Faso, Mali, and Benin, all of whom are source countries for migration and trafficking, will also possibly look to designing intervention strategies in the near future. This initiative interweaves several development strategies: education to combat abusive child labor, agricultural development, democracy and governance, environmental health, and basic education.
