Country Snapshot: Bangladesh and Anti-Trafficking

Photo of women dancing on a stage.

USAID/Bangladesh has led the way with groundbreaking research and development of a conceptual framework that forms the basis for anti- trafficking strategies throughout the region. USAID works with anti-trafficking networks, NGOs, local law enforcement and border authorities in neighboring countries to counter both the demand and supply sides of trafficking in women and children.

It provides technical assistance for topical research and then disseminates the research findings through a national media campaign addressing the seriousness of trafficking. It assists victims with legal aid, rehabilitation, and repatriation support services. USAID also collaborates with local partners to provide assistance to the government of Bangladesh to prosecute traffickers.
