USAID/Mali’s ten-year strategy (2003-2013) expands economic opportunities particularly for the rural poor; provides high impact health services to improve the health and welfare of women and children, and control the spread of HIV/AIDS; improves the quality of basic education for boys and girls; consolidates democracy through decentralization; and accelerates overall development by making information widely accessible.

USAID Mali’s program objectives with a gender component include: health services; improved quality of basic education; shared governance through decentralization; and accelerated economic growth.
