Guinea Fast Facts Header

In 1990, only 19% of school-age girls in Guinea were in primary school. Today more than 67% of them go to school. Overall, enrollment in primary school in Guinea has risen from 28% in 1990 to 84% in 2005.

As of the 2004 elections, there were 22 women representing 19% of Guinea's 114 seat Parliament.

Country Snapshot: Guinea and Natural Resource Management

Women in Guinea are recognized as effective and efficient farmers, businesspeople and managers, and continue to benefit from training, access to credit, cash-crop production and micro - and small enterprise development through USAID/Guinea.

Women account for roughly half of all farmers trained in sustainable agricultural practices and production plans, and have kept new businesses running by successfully adopting new management techniques.
