This project aims at improving
access to and utilization of reproductive health/family planning services
among residents of Patani Local Government area, Delta State. Patani
Local Government Area (LGA) is one of the twenty-four Local Government
Areas in Delta State. It was created out in 1996 from the old Bomadi
LGA. It is riverine and has a population of 96,138 distributed in
nine health districts in fifteen communities. Each of the nine districts
has a Primary Health Care (PHC) Center, which attends to common ailments
and refers patients to the General Hospital, Patani, the only secondary
health facility in the LGA. Of these PHC centers, the one located
in Patani town is the only one that is equipped. Activities under
this project are being conducted in collaboration with a Mac-Arthur
funded project managed by Pathfinder which supported health and safe
environment initiatives in Patani. The Mac-Arthur project, a behavior
change communication initiative paved the way for the service delivery
component now funded by USAID |
