BAGHDAD--The Founding Shareholders meeting of the Iraqi Company for Financing SMEs, Ltd. (ICF-Small and Medium Enterprises) convened on June 6 at the Baghdad headquarters of the Tijara Provincial Economic Growth Program. Managing Directors of ICF-SME's nine Iraqi private commercial shareholder banks attended. They confirmed the appointment of Sherwan Mustafa to be ICF-SME's new Managing Director and reviewed the first-year business plan.

WASHINGTON, DC -- The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) yesterday contributed $75 million to improve and expand children's immunization programs in developing countries.

The contribution is part of the overall U.S. commitment to global health and the new global health initiative, a 6-year, $63 billion dollar effort announced by President Obama in May.

The grant was announced by Deputy Secretary of State Jacob Lew at Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) Board of Directors Meeting at the World Bank.

NAIROBI, KENYA - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced today that funding for family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) activities in Kenya would rise to $17.8 million in 2009. This announcement represents an increase of $7 million to USAID's family planning and reproductive health activities in Kenya from just two years ago.

Frej is a Minister Counselor in the Senior Foreign Service and has worked for USAID for the past twenty years in both overseas and Washington, D.C. assignments.
