Innovating, Measuring and Promoting Poverty Alleviation by Cooperatives in Transition Societies (IMPPACTS)

Business Group Members Survey.  Field work on the business group survey continued this month. The UB, Erdenet, and Bayan Ulgii groups have been surveyed and the Darkhan and Dornod business groups will be surveyed in June. The survey report is expected to be completed in June.

NGO Workshop.  A workshop for international and local NGOs regarding the role of Business Groups and Cooperatives during the economic crisis is scheduled for June 5th.  IMPPACTS is co-organizing the event with a number of other organizations, and preparations for the event are nearly complete.

Business Group Manual.  IMPPACTS and Development Solutions are completing work on a Business Group Manual. The manual contains information on group formation, why people work together, advantages of working together, and management and operations of groups. The manual is expected to be completed in early June.

Amendments to the Law on Cooperatives.  No activities this month.

Cooperatives Seminar.  The project is collaborating with the Darkhan Regional Cooperative Training and Information Center (DRCTIC) to prepare for seminar on June 25 with DRCTIC.  The seminar, entitled “The current situation of cooperatives, opportunities for increased collaboration” aims to bring local officials and local coops together to share skills and experiences and increase collaboration. This event will be one of IMPPACTS’ activities related to International Coop Day on July 3rd.
