Cooperative Development Program Evaluation
A consultant was sent from CHF International headquarters to conduct an assessment of the IMPPACTS program as part of a larger evaluation of the Cooperative Development Program currently implemented by CHF International in Mongolia and Rwanda. The consultant met with seven business groups who had received assistance from IMPPACTS. Two of the groups were now inactive, and five continue to be active groups including one group that was in the process of becoming a formal cooperative.
The consultant traveled to Darkhan to meet with the Darkhan Regional Cooperative Training and Information Center (DRCTIC), business groups and coops. As part of the evaluation the consultant also met with the Mongol Germany Bridge NGO, Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), GTZ, the Coop law amendments working group, the United Association of Cooperative Unions, various other Coop Unions, the Mongolian Cooperative Training and Information Center (MCTIC), and USAID. The consultant will conduct a similar evaluation of the cooperative development program in Rwanda and then present his final report to CHF and USAID.
Agribusiness Meetings
IMPPACTS and GER organized meetings with agribusiness owners in Bayangol, Darkhan and Sukhbaatar. Over 60 current and potential business owners attended the meetings. IMPPACTS facilitated a discussion among the participants and encouraged them to collaborate as a business group.
Survey on Cooperatives in Mongolia
IMPPACTS continues to work with the coop survey working group made up of MCTIC and various Coop Unions. IMPPACTS has offered to provide the training on conducting the survey if the working group members agree to implement the survey and identify the resources to carry it out. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for March.
Cooperative TV Commercial
The IMPPACTS 20 minute TV commercial - “Benefits of Working Together” was re-aired by C1 TV (four times on February 7 and 14).
