On April 11, 2006, Ambassador Randall Tobias, who is the new U.S. State Department Director of Foreign Assistance as well as the U.S. Agency for International Development's Administrator, joined President Teodoro Obiang of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea in signing an agreement to establish a Social Development Fund, which will support projects in the areas of health, education, women's affairs and environment.More

The Millennium Challenge Account

Burkina Faso MCC Girls' Education Project

The Millennium Challenge Account's Threshold Country Program for Burkina Faso was officially launched on June 12, 2006 in Koutoula-Yarcé village, in the Sanmatenga Province with ceremonies and significant media attention at the site of the first school that will be constructed under the program. Ambassador Jackson joined the Minister of Basic Education and Literacy (MEBA), the Country Representative for Plan International-Burkina, and the Governor of the Central North Region to inaugurate the BRIGHT (Burkinabe Response for Increased Girls' Chances to Succeed) Program, Burkina's name for the USD 12.9 million Threshold program.More
