USAID Assistant Administrator for the Europe and Eurasia Bureau, Donald Pressley, presided at the closing ceremony of the USAID/Lithuania Mission in Vilnius on Wednesday, 31 May. The gala was attended by the Lithuanian Prime Minister, who gave the keynote address. A press conference was held and several news wires reported the event including the Associated Press and Dow Jones. The morning of the ceremony, Donald Pressley met with the Lithuanian President over breakfast and conveyed the message that, although the USAID Mission will close in September, AID will continue to support specific development activities in Lithuania. USAID has provided Lithuania with $89 million of assistance since 1992.
