Guidance For Firms And Individuals Offering Commodities And Transportation Services

Updated January 12, 2005

Summary

USAID is responding to the humanitarian needs of the people and nations in the affected region. All commodities and services provided by USAID are carefully selected, in coordination with the affected countries and other national and international donors, for maximum effect.

Commodities

1. Procurement of USAID/OFDA disaster relief commodities is generally conducted through the Air Force's Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP). Vendors wishing to provide humanitarian assistance commodities may contact AFCAP for additional information.

2. Procurement of USAID commodities: Asia Near East Bureau (ANE):

USAID advertises its longer-term project requirements (solicitations) for goods and services at the government web site for electronic procurement: www.fedbizops.gov. Vendors of goods and services may review current U. S. government requirements and notices, including USAID requirements, at this site.

Transportation

USAID emergency transportation requirements are normally acquired through our Office of Acquisition and Assistance, Transportation Branch (M/OAA/T). This office does not arrange transportation of private sector donations of commodities.

Donations

Potential donors can find information and guidelines, and register offers for donated goods and services, at www.cidi.org or (703) 276-1914. In addition, USAID offers an Ocean Freight Reimbursement program to private voluntary organizations. There is information on the USAID web site about our Ocean Freight Reimbursement program.

Special Notes

This notice may be updated anytime if necessary to reflect updated commodity and transportation information or other changing circumstances.
