USAID Supports Youth Initiatives
April 29, 2009USAID/Lebanon Mission Director Denise A. Herbol spoke at and assisted in the launching of the project “Youth and Municipalities: New Participatory Governance”, with representatives from the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, Members of Parliament, the Governor of Mount Lebanon and leaders from the Aley area in Lebanon. USAID granted Green Hand Organization $49,940 to help empower youth in the Aley region in order to strengthen the relationship between youth and their municipalities in ten villages in the area. Field surveys will be conducted to identify the various problems and needs facing youth, as well as an assessment of their strengths and weaknesses in facing them. The project will also feature training workshops on lobbying, accountability, good governance and the role of municipalities.More Photo of the Week Stories |
