Association Centre Mar Semaan received $50,000 from USAID to improve its facilities including the children’s dormitory section, bathrooms, kitchen, fence and heating system. Located in Wadi El Karm near Baskinta, the center provides free of charge residency, education and medical care for a yearly average of 100 socially and economically deprived boys and girls (ages 3-18 years).

Safadi Foundation received $50,000 from USAID to upgrade and equip eight computer centers in the districts of Akkar, Batroun, Koura and Minieh. As a result of the assistance, Safadi Foundation will provide 3,000 students per year with computer training, to enhance their skills and capabilities to integrate the job market. Established in 1990, Safadi Foundation offers a variety of social services for economically disadvantaged populations in Tripoli and the surrounding suburbs.
