U.S. GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES SUPPORT TO A BROUMMANA ORPHANAGEWednesday, September 24, 2008Beirut, Lebanon The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/Lebanon Acting Mission Director Thomas Staal presented $50,000 to Saint Vincent Orphanage for Daughters of Charity on September 23. Established in 1947 in Broummana, the orphanage is a Lebanese non-governmental organization which assists 127 boys, aged 6 to 13. This funding will be used to purchase needed kitchen and educational equipment. USAID has worked in Lebanon since 1951, funding development projects to benefit Lebanese citizens. With funds from the American people, USAID creates jobs, invests in youth and protects the environment in Lebanon. USAID’s work reflects the strong friendship between the Lebanese and American people. |
