SENIOR USAID OFFICIAL JAMES A. BEVER VISITS LEBANONTuesday, September 09, 2008Beirut, Lebanon James A. Bever, the Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator (PDAA) for the Middle East of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is visiting Lebanon. Accompanied by Ambassador Michele J. Sison, PDAA Bever will meet with Government of Lebanon Ministers to discuss USAID’s programs in Lebanon. During his visit, PDAA Bever will visit several USAID projects. He will meet with the project implementers as well as the people benefiting from U.S. assistance. USAID projects span a range of areas, including infrastructure enhancement, strengthening the capacity of over 850 municipalities, water resource development, solid waste disposal, environmental projects, education, agriculture, economic development, and rule of law. Since 2006, the U.S. Government has committed over $1 billion to Lebanon. USAID has worked in Lebanon since 1951 and implemented development projects to benefit Lebanese citizens. With funds from the American people, USAID creates jobs, invests in youth and protects the environment. USAID’s work reflects the strong friendship between the Lebanese and American people. |
