Kazakhstan and Afghanistan entrepreneurs networked and signed trade contracts as part of a two day Afghan trade mission June 27-28, 2013 in Almaty. Representatives from KAZNEX Invest Agency, 14 Afghan and 30 Kazakhstani companies participated in the event organized by the USAID Regional Economic Cooperation project.
The 30 largest energy intensive enterprises in Kazakhstan are joining government agencies to learn new techniques for complying with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency Improvement. Speakers at the Central Asian Energy Efficiency Program conference presented ways to reduce energy use, their international experiences with implementing industrial energy efficiency policies, and the results of energy management system audits conducted at several of Kazakhstan’s largest industrial companies.
Civil society groups across Central Asia and the CIS gathered at KIMEP University in Almaty to exchange ideas for strengthening their organizations’ ability to respond to public needs.
IOM, together with USAID and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host a Central Asian Regional Dialogue “Demand Reduction for Forced Labor and Slavery-like Working Conditions” on March 6, 2013 at 09:00 a.m. at the hotel Holiday Inn Almaty.
Over 50 representatives of private and public companies from South-Eastern and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central, Northern, South-Eastern and Southern Asia, as well as the Russian Federation and Turkey, are gathering in Almaty to develop bankable project proposals for energy efficiency investment opportunities.
