The Kirkuk Central Fire Station was was looted of most of its contents; windows and doors were broken; wiring pulled out, the back-up generator was destroyed; most of the building was damaged and equipment was destroyed or stolen. The ability of the fire department to respond to fire emergencies in this city of approximately 1 million inhabitants was severely compromised.
