Child Survival Health Grants Project

Description:

Almost half of all Indian children are chronically malnourished and more than 2.4 million die each year from preventable or curable diseases. Twenty percent of the world’s maternal and Twenty-five percent of the world’s children deaths occur in India.

The Child Survival Health Grants Program supports quality community-oriented health projects to significantly improve the health status of children under five and women of reproductive age with a focus on innovation in delivery strategies for new, underused and high impact maternal child health interventions.

Activities undertaken include

  • Safe motherhood and newborn care training;
  • Breastfeeding coaching and education;
  • Education of mothers during pregnancy and post-delivery regarding good nutrition for themselves and their babies;
  • Reduction of acute respiratory infections; and
  • Prevention and treatment of diarrhea.
