The Development Assistance Specialist (Foreign Commercial Service Liaison), position is located in the Interagency Transactions Office, PATA Office of the Coordinator, based in Pretoria, South Africa. While working under the shared guidance of the Foreign Commercial Service Liaison and USAID, the Foreign Commercial Service Liaison works with private-sector partners, development partners, TradeMark East Africa, and other USG staff in Washington and in priority PATA countries (Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia Nigeria, Tanzania, and others). The Specialist focuses on accelerating project development and leveraging financing, insurance, technical assistance, and other tools to provide the catalyst needed to bring power projects to fruition. The Specialist enhances collaboration and coordination between the Foreign Commercial Service Liaison and PATA, and works to support mutual objectives embodied in PATA’s core documents. The Specialist works under the very general supervision of the PATA Coordinator and/or Deputy Coordinator, and the closer supervision of the Supervisory General Development Officer; the Specialist receives portfolio guidance from both DoC through the Foreign Service Liaison and PATA, and has authority to pursue functions typical of both agencies.
