The United States Agency for International Development USAID is seeking qualified individual for the position of NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST.

The Natural Resources Management Specialist will be based in USAID/Liberia’s Office of Economic Growth.  The Natural Resources Management Specialist will participate in the planning, design and management of new and existing natural resources management programs through the provision of technical expertise and program oversight; analysis of program performance and documentation of program success; and the development of recommendations to enhance program performance.  The Natural Resources Management Specialist will be required to travel within Liberia to perform reconnaissance in preparation for program designs; conduct site visits to assess program implementation, and meet with program beneficiaries and stakeholders to assure that program objectives are being met.  During field visits to program implementation sites, the Natural Resources Management Specialist often will be housed in modest accommodations and at times may have to walk to reach certain beneficiary communities.  The Natural Resources Management Specialist will work under the supervision of the Natural Resources Team Leader, currently the Forestry Advisor.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences, natural resource management, or environmental studies is required, preferably in forestry. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree in the natural sciences, preferably in forestry or conservation.

Prior Work Experience: A minimum of 4 years of pertinent professional experience in natural resources management.  Demonstrated experience in establishing relationships with key public sector, donor and private sector stakeholders is desirable. Specific experience working with U.S. Government-funded programs or other international donor-funded programs in natural resources management is highly desirable.
